Brivs sleeping bags: Our sleeping bags are marked with three different temperature limits: COMFORT, LIMIT and EXTREME. This is a voluntary industry agreement and follows the standard EN 13537. A healthy, well-trained person has a heat production of approx. 60W. There are many factors that influence how one experiences a night in a sleeping bag.
- Heat production will be higher than 60W if you eat or exercise lightly before going to bed.
- Choice of sleeping pad.
- The insulation capacity is reduced by exposure to wind.
- You can tolerate lower temperatures if you dress in underwear, socks, a hat, etc.
- Insulation is reduced by high humidity and at altitude the body's sensitivity to cold increases, partly due to the reduced oxygen content.
- Insulation is reduced by sweating.
- Younger, well-trained men and women have a higher heat production than 60W and can therefore tolerate lower temperature limits.
